SKUAST-K extends winter vacation till February 9 amid harsh weather
JK News Live

Srinagar, Jan 27, KNT: The Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir has extended the winter vacation for its students in view of prevailing inclement weather conditions and recent heavy snowfall across the region.

According to an official memorandum issued by the university administration, the winter vacation, earlier announced vide University Order No. 25 (Acad.) of 2025 dated December 18, 2025, has now been extended up to February 9, 2026.

The decision has been taken considering the severe weather situation and its impact on normal academic activity. The university clarified that all directions issued in the earlier order will remain unchanged during the extended vacation period.

The memorandum, issued with the approval of the competent authority, has been circulated to all officers of the university, heads of divisions, stations, Krishi Vigyan Kendras and other constituent units of SKUAST-K for necessary information and compliance.

University officials said the extension aims to ensure the safety and well-being of students amid continued snowfall and disruptions caused by weather conditions in various parts of Kashmir.

Further instructions regarding the resumption of academic activities are expected to be issued separately depending on the improvement in weather conditions, officials added.[KNT]
