Ganderbal 14 April 2025: In the scenic town of Saloora in Ganderbal, Central Kashmir, lives a young artist whose passion for pen and ink has made him a local sensation. Farhan Farooq, a 15-year-old student of Class 10 at Hill Top Educational Institute, is turning heads with his breathtaking calligraphy skills.

Farhan’s journey into the intricate world of calligraphy began at a very young age. What started as simple doodles in the margins of his notebooks soon transformed into elaborate designs and stylized scripts that reflect a deep sense of artistry and patience. His work is not just about writing—it’s about expressing emotion, culture, and identity through every stroke of the pen.

Despite his young age and the academic pressures of Class 10, Farhan dedicates several hours a week to honing his craft. His room is filled with ink pots, calligraphy pens, and sheets of beautifully lettered verses and quotes—many of them inspired by Kashmiri culture and Islamic art.

“I feel calm and focused when I do calligraphy,” says Farhan. “It’s like my own way of connecting with art and expressing what words alone sometimes can’t.”

His talent has not gone unnoticed. Farhan often shares his work on social media, where he has gathered a small but growing fanbase. Teachers, classmates, and even local artists have recognized his potential and encouraged him to continue developing his skills.

Farhan dreams of one day showcasing his work on a bigger stage—perhaps even publishing a collection of his art or holding an exhibition. But for now, he remains a humble student, focused on balancing his studies and his passion.

In a world increasingly dominated by digital art, Farhan Farooq is a reminder of the timeless beauty of traditional forms. With steady hands and a creative heart, he is not just writing letters—he’s writing his own inspiring story.
