Ganderbal 20 May delegation from DAB area of Ganderbal today, on May 20, 2026, called on the Hon’ble J&K Jal Shakti Minister, Javed Ahmad Rana, at Civil Secretariat and submitted a memorandum highlighting the acute shortage of drinking water being faced by the residents of the area.
The delegation informed the Hon’ble Minister that although several water supply schemes exist at the tehsil level, the rapidly increasing population of DAB area has once again led to a severe scarcity of potable water. The memorandum strongly urged the government to sanction a separate and dedicated water supply scheme for DAB so that the people of the area may receive a permanent and reliable drinking water facility.
The Hon’ble Minister gave a patient hearing to the delegation and, on the spot, directed the concerned authorities to prepare the necessary project proposal for the area. The delegation expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Minister for his positive response and hoped that the government would fulfill this long-pending genuine demand at the earliest so that the people of DAB may benefit from the Jal Shakti Abhiyan and receive uninterrupted drinking water supply.
Later, the delegation also met the Executive Engineer, PHE Ganderbal, and apprised him of the ongoing drinking water crisis in the area. The Executive Engineer attentively listened to the grievances of the delegation and directed the field staff and other concerned officials to ensure restoration and proper supply of drinking water during the sacred days of Muharram-ul-Haram.
The delegation also thanked the Executive Engineer for his cooperation and prompt attention towards this important public issue.
